Florida supplied beef and salt to the Confederacy, more so after Vicksburg cut off the West. Truman Seymour landed at Jacksonville to disrupt that supply and marched west along the Florida, Atlantic and Gulf Central Railroad. At Olustee Station Joseph Finegan's Confederates repulsed him, and he fell back to Jacksonville.
