CSS Shenandoah arrived at Melbourne on January 25, 1865, short of men, and filled her complement and her storerooms. She signed on 40 men when she left on February 18. After the Melbourne refit she burned whalers in the Caroline Islands and took 20 of the 58 whalers working the Bering Sea.
