Stonewall coaled at Lisbon, reached Nassau on May 6, 1865, and sailed on to Havana, where Page learned the war was over. He turned the ship over to the Spanish Captain General of Cuba for $16,000 to pay the crew's wages. The United States repaid the sum in November and took the ram to the Washington Navy Yard.
