Blockade runners ran 674 miles from Bermuda to Wilmington, which lay 28 miles up the Cape Fear River and was the central depot for blockade runners through most of the war. Supplies landed there went by rail to Augusta and Richmond. The fall of Fort Fisher in January 1865 closed the port.

The line follows the sea lanes between the two ports. It shows the water a ship had to cross, not the course a runner sailed.
