Wilmington lay 570 miles from Nassau. The steamer Syren made her first run from Nassau to Wilmington on November 5, 1863, and Banshee, working from Nassau and Bermuda, was captured on her seventh run into Wilmington. Between October 1864 and January 1865 the port took in 69,000 rifles, 43 cannon and 1,933,000 pounds of saltpeter.

The line follows the sea lanes between the two ports. It shows the water a ship had to cross, not the course a runner sailed.
