Some runners from Wilmington bypassed Bermuda for Halifax. In August 1864 the Old Dominion and the City of Petersburg delivered 2,000 bales of cotton to Halifax after a five-day run up the coast past the blockaders.
The line follows the sea lanes between the two ports. It shows the water a ship had to cross, not the course a runner sailed.
