BRANDY STATION DEPOT
Principal supply and passenger depot of the Army of the Potomac on the Orange and Alexandria Railroad during its winter encampment of December 1, 1863 to May 4, 1864, when 100,000 soldiers camped across Culpeper County. Army wagon trains came and went from morning till night.
Then
Brandy Station on the Orange and Alexandria Railroad was the Army of the Potomac's principal supply and passenger depot during its winter encampment of December 1, 1863 to May 4, 1864, when 100,000 soldiers camped across most of Culpeper County and part of Fauquier. Supplies rolled down from Alexandria to Brandy Station and to Ingalls' Station, named for the army's quartermaster Rufus Ingalls, 1.2 miles north, and army wagon trains came and went from morning till night.
The army left its winter quarters in early May 1864 for the Overland Campaign.

Museum
The Graffiti House, used as a hospital and headquarters during the encampment, is a museum and visitor center run by the Brandy Station Foundation, with a wayside marker on the encampment in front.
