All these students here have fought their butts off for a while to get their degree and I wanted to make sure that in no way I was trying to show them up on their special day. They had a lot of family and loved ones that’s here to support them and to see them and I just wanted to be a graduate, just like them.

I just hope that it shows them the importance of completion. I told my mom and my dad that I was going to graduate. And I think everybody has to be on their own schedule, their own time. Don’t be in such a hurry to do this or check this off. But, yeah, for my kids, I just hope that they see that at times you can do a little more and you can give a little more.

And it’s been the perfect marriage because now I can say that I attended both of the universities that are here in my hometown.
