Carolina Quotes
Right after Louis published his groundbreaking thesis, along came the Internet, and the White man was given an easy out, a way to satisfy his hunger for feel-good factor without risk and without effort. The Internet is political empty calories. The Internet is sterile. It produces nothing but more Internet. But the fact is that the Internet satisfies that nagging little bit of shame and remorse and self-contempt that tells the White man that he really should be doing something about "all of this nigger and Jew shit." The White man can sit down in his basement rec room with a cold beer and a bowl of nachos, spend an evening pounding on his keyboard, and then get up and say, “Hey, I really got a lot done for the race tonight.” But he didn’t. All he did was let off steam into cyberspace where it will dissipate overnight, kind of like pissing into the ocean.

Why did I tolerate Braswell if he was such a loon? The answer is simple and tragic. I liked him. I knew he was crazy, but he was crazy in an engaging sort of way. Both Frank and Pat have a personal charm which tends to mask their character defects, and this charm has allowed them to pull the wool over many a White patriot's eyes for some time. In this way they have had the operational assistance of a number of enthusiastic proponents, including me. I am as much responsible as anyone else for the Braswells' inflated reputations in the Movement. I covered their flamboyant gunfights in NS publications, neglecting to mention that the assailants were not Israeli commandos or gin mad niggers but the irate relatives of Braswell's first wife and his daughter's jilted boyfriend. Many people, like me, found the image of "feudin', fightin', fussin' Nazi mountain folk" titillating, and so we built up a completely false image for these people as being the Hatfields in brown shirts when in fact they were dangerously unstable nut cases. A lot of people, not the least myself, were to pay dearly for that indulgence.
"Seigfried's Jabberwocky" (1980s?), quoted in Kaplan (2000), pp. 79–80
There are many closet Nazis in the Republican Party. Most conservatives are closet Nazis. If you scratch a conservative you'll find a Nazi underneath, just as if you scratch a liberal you'll find a communist. I don't think ignorance played that much of a role. Either way, the Republicans don't come out of this looking too hot. There are 56,000 people in this state who are either Nazis or fools.
Interview with Associated Press in response to his getting 43% of the state vote in 1980, "Nazi gets 43% of statewide vote", Associated Press (printed in Journal and Courier, p. 1), May 8, 1980, also quoted in Danger: Extremism (1996)
