CHARLOTTESVILLE FACTORY
Woolen mill founded around 1820-1830 and taken over by the Confederacy to make woolen clothing for soldiers. During Sheridan's 1865 raid, coals carried to burn the nearby railroad bridge set the factory floor on fire. It was rebuilt at once and ran as the Woolen Mills until 1962.
