Stuart's 1,800 cavalry destroyed $250,000 of railroad property, including the depot, shops, warehouses and several miles of track, and took 500 guns and about 1,200 horses. They failed to burn the Cumberland Valley bridge over Conococheague Creek, a link in supplying the Union army at Hagerstown. The destroyed supplies gave McClellan further reasons to postpone moving his army.
